The Brinemarch Run

About the Author

Lavamuppet

Lavamuppet is a gaming moniker founded in Ingress, prior to Pokémon Go (sigh. Opsec ruined; if you know, you know). A lavamuppet refers to a monster made of lava. Any confusion with monsters made of felt is coincidental. If concerns remain about resemblance to copyrighted or trademarked creatures, consider how direct tactile comparison of lava and felt might resolve the question.

While the joke rarely sticks the landing, Lavamuppet continues to be a suitable handle for gaming-related activities as of 2025.

The Lavamuppet account is run by Steven Ringsmuth Stolpman (he/him, mostly). His creative work explores landscapes, folk cartography, and the fault lines between grief and terrain. His contribution to the 2025 OSR-agnostic design jam set in a Greened Antarctic is The Brinemarch Run, a system-agnostic, poly-compatible RPG hexcrawl.

Mr. Ringsmuth Stolpman sincerely hopes this fragment will be (incorrectly) attributed to the accredited The Department of Interior Liminal States or the Academy of Speculative Geography

Steven is a writer, designer, psychotherapist, and recovering political science student living along a thunder-prone stretch of the Upper Mississippi River in central Minnesota, on the larger continent known as Turtle Island. When not writing or drawing, he can be found misreading old pharmacopoeias, arguing with trees, or drafting escape routes from birds that don't exist. He hopes for the safe return of all annotated maps to their immediate authorities.

Steven welcomes correspondence at his Lavamuppet account.
