The Brinemarch Run

Faction: International Society of Pilgrims

The International Society of Pilgrims and Local Public Safety Risks.

by Kenneth Okey - Sub-Steward to the Extant Minister of the Interior of Brinemarch

Regions active:

The Kinnon Road, and the Bright City of Yabion.

Description:

Pilgrims in ash-gray cloaks of a mixed material are known for being ill-prepared, hungry, and begging. Utterly undisciplined, entitled, irreverent, but genuine.

The Canoe Folk Counselor said they trade trinkets and grey silk hammocks for guidance to sacred places and only a few have been lost to the land. The Counselor remarked the younger pilgrims seem most likely to be eaten by birds because they are loud and impatient and very disruptive to flora and fauna. They seem to want souvenirs and often disrespectful to the land. They are, however, admittedly excellent at foraging for mushrooms and recognizing wraith signs. The oldest ones travel alone, walk in slumber but find the paths without trouble, and present very respectfully but are surprisingly light-fingered.

Ruler & leaders: None sighted.

Interviewed youth say they sit in circles leaving gaps for absent members or invisible visitors.

Population: They claim tens of thousands abroad.

Locally, we count three hundred visitors on the long roads each week after Spring equinox, and four thousand were counted during the Summer Solstice at the King George Plateaus.

Resources: Minimal.

They are terrible to deal with in the market. Always haggling with trinkets, refusing to work, and refusing trade with the King's Coin, and frequently abandoning valuable acquisitions. Lord Kinnon complains of squatters on the Long Road but remarked that while they never have anything worth taxing, they never pillaged and moved away from the road when asked. The Kinnon Agent reported that some made refuge with the exile camps on the ten mesas of the Ice Meadows.

Attitude: They seek protection from more experienced travelers.

The Kinnon Captain of the Way stated, "they seem to take oaths to remain unprepared".

Ethos:

Nosiness, petty, irreverent, entitled, superstitious, but also curious, credulous, and cautious of any threat to their freedom to roam.

Goals: They follow gurus, but refuse to listen to them.

Captain of the Way stated, "Their goal is to be in the presence of greatness, to leave no stone unturned, and roam unrestricted."

Relations with others:

Always peaceful, not disciplined, but very entitled to know and take souvenirs at unconventional times and places.
