d8 Lichen-kind encounters
- The Sun-seeking Hedge: 1d4 x 3d6 dense web of lichen, root, and stone creeps very slowly toward sunlight. If it is night, it appears still. 20 ft (5 squares of movement) / 1 hour of daylight. (4HP/cube). If damaged, Wall automatically passes death saves, regrows a 90% chance in combat, and collapses with any pressure 10% (like if you climb it or lean on it).
- The Moisture Vampire: This lichen vampire absorbs all moisture in the area and creates very uncomfortable dryness. PC requires an immediate ration of water or suffers damage to body or constitution. Magical sources of water conjured within 3D6 hours of walking from this site create mushrooms containing 1/2 of the volume conjured.
- Persuing Hyphae, it hopes to bond with leather or wood forever. This desire is communicated telepathically, lovingly, urgently, and a reflection of the listener's mind. If allowed, it will graft symbiotically to armor and will strengthen it +1 condition as long as the lichen has received one ration of water and has spent one hour in sunlight in the past 24 hours. The armor will decay and turn into edible flakes (1 D6+1 ration worth) completely in 30 days. New armor can gain the graft by exposing it to water and sunlight and a flake of the old armor.
- Fungi Fellows: A group of 3d6 Lichin-kin move in a slow-motion dance. Spells do not appear to work here, though if cast, a mushroom will appear in 1 minute which holds one spell charge of the spell cast. The mushroom will dehydrate in 1 day and can be revived with 1 ration of water. Each Fungi-Fellow has all other fungi-powers listed here, but is non-hostile unless attacked. _------------------------------------
- The Logcore - this lichen-kin is "hugging" a food source, intertwined with what appears to be a bit of remaining flesh or bark. It appears dormant. Moving within 15 feet causes it to shower glowing spores. If these spores reach a standing body of water or rain, they will turn into 3D6 lichenoid babies (unarmored swarm, each with 1 HP) for 3 rounds. They simply want a hug . . . and to bond with anything leather, wood as their mother-father would have wanted.
- Camo-kin: This fellow is clinging to a stone face, a floor or wall. It will move toward light, away from fire, or toward moisture within 15 ft. It is not hostile, and will spring glowing spores only if touched.
- Spore o'clock. A thick fog of glowing spores sprays from every surface in a 30' radius around the party. This reduces light visibility by one condition for 1 minute. The spores cling to any exposed surface. They glow and cancel camouflage and invisibility unless removed with a brush for 2D6 hours. They will regrow into a lichen baby if they get wet.
- Crumbled lichen fragments, brittle. Looks dead, but it is not dead. May be revived with moisture. Touch if you want to be covered in more glowing spores for 1D6 hours. May collect for 1 ration.
